Colombia coffee production July 2015 : Colombia’s coffee output reached 1.46 million 60-kilo (132-lb) sacks
last month, an improvement of 18 percent compared with July 2014, the
National Coffee Growers Association, or FNC, said.
The yield-per-hectare (2.2 acres) in July was 16 sacks, the second-highest in 15 years, the FNC said. olombia,
the world’s largest provider of mild Arabica coffee, exported 1.22
million sacks of the bean last month, up 30 percent from July 2014.
The
FNC attributed last month’s gain to its own initiatives, such as the
replacement since 2009 of 3.4 billion coffee trees with pest-resistant
varieties better adapted to cope with climate change.
FNC said
that between August 2014 and July 2015 Colombia produced a total of 13.1
million bags, up 12 percent from the preceding 12-month period.
Colombian coffee exports have also experienced positive growth. During
June 2015, coffee exports increased 31%, reaching a total of 997 million
60 kilo bags. Year to date exports reached 5.8 million bags, meaning a
10% increase compared to the 5.3 million bags sold between January and
June 2014. Similarly, during the past twelve months (July 2014-June
2015), coffee exports increased 8%, reaching a total of 11.5 million
bags.
